Voice your opinion for the TSR2
Teen Summer Reading Program for 2009!

The kid's summer reading theme is Read for the Stars. What do you think about having some outer space or celebrity themed programs at your library for the teen summer reading program?

What types of events would you go to this summer at the library? (select all that you like)

Last year, you needed to read at least 2 books, magazines or graphic novels. Most teens blogged that they thought that was too simple. How many books should a teen read to claim a prize?

Which of the 5 activities should we keep for the 2009 TSR program? Choose all that apply.

For a grand prize, would you rather have 1 person win a super grand prize, or 1 person at every library win an invitation for themselves and a friend to an exclusive party.

Did your teacher assign you certain books to read during the summer of 2008?

Which of the following would you do to help promote the Teen Summer Reading program this year? Select all that apply.

Would you be willing or able to attend a Saturday meeting in April at the Main Library to plan and receive promotional materials.

A Random Act of Kindness: One of the Choose 5 Activities!

What exactly is a Random Act of Kindness? It's simply something you do for someone else who's not expecting it, and you expect nothing in return for doing it!

Do something nice for someone you know or even a stranger! There are so many options for being kind...Hold open the door to the library for someone who has an armload of books. Ask your dad if you can help him cook supper (and wash the dishes!!) Listen to book your little brother can read to you.

One teen from Iroquois Library gave his mom a foot massage after she worked a long day. Now that's a perfect example of an act of kindness.

Have you done something kind for someone today? What did you do?

My sister was supposed to set the table and make the drinks for dinner. She set the table then went outside. My mom was going to call her in, and I told my mom that I would do it for her. Then I realized that what I did would be considered as a Random Act of Kindness.

The teachers at the school where my mom teaches had a meeting. One of the teachers had a baby about 1 yr. old. I kept the baby with me during the meeting, about 2 hrs. The mother was pleased and I had fun playing with the baby. This is my Random Act of Kindness.

At Ky Kingdom some of the rides require the workers to go around and help them out of the ride, e.g. the enterprise. Instead of walking on I helped a few people out of the gondola since the worker was on the other side and I had to walk by them anyway to get to the exit. Before doing it I didn't think about the Random Act of Kindness, because I have done that a lot.

My Random Act of Kindness this summer was..... My mom owns a store
in Middletown and we are very packed in our hallways lately. This man came into our store in a
wheel chair and could not move around the items in the hallway.I got up and helped him through
the whole store, walking by his side and moving the items that he needed moved! He greatly thanked me and I thanked him for coming to our store!!!

I was watching the news with my family and there was a story about a family that their house cought on fire. This man came and gave the family a table for there kitchen and a bed frame. My mom got an idea and thought that since we have been overly blessed that we could give some things to them also, like toys and books and things that they need. We called the news reporter that had done that story and she set it for us, We had packed tons of things that were really nice but yet we did not need anymore. We packed all of the things up and drove downtown and gave them the things, the greatly thanked my family and I. I had a great felling inside that I was helping someone to get back on their feet and get back to what used to be!!!

I went to a dance camp for 5 weeks, which was lots of fun! Anyway, I held the door for people every day, especially when it was raining!I also waited for many people everyday so that we could walk to class together instead of leaving without them.
