Voice your opinion for the TSR2
Teen Summer Reading Program for 2009!

The kid's summer reading theme is Read for the Stars. What do you think about having some outer space or celebrity themed programs at your library for the teen summer reading program?

What types of events would you go to this summer at the library? (select all that you like)

Last year, you needed to read at least 2 books, magazines or graphic novels. Most teens blogged that they thought that was too simple. How many books should a teen read to claim a prize?

Which of the 5 activities should we keep for the 2009 TSR program? Choose all that apply.

For a grand prize, would you rather have 1 person win a super grand prize, or 1 person at every library win an invitation for themselves and a friend to an exclusive party.

Did your teacher assign you certain books to read during the summer of 2008?

Which of the following would you do to help promote the Teen Summer Reading program this year? Select all that apply.

Would you be willing or able to attend a Saturday meeting in April at the Main Library to plan and receive promotional materials.

Writing Book Reviews: One of the Choose 5 Activities!

Did you write a book review for one of your TSR Rocks! Choose 5 activities? We'd love to read it, so post it here!

Have you ever seen a book video trailer? It's kinda like a movie preview, only just for a book. Here's a one on the book Twilight by Stephenie Meyer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qgci5Z2ukOU And another great one on A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray: http://youtube.com/watch?v=qPtH4vJregY

Speaking of movie previews, a bunch of teen librarians are GIDDY with excitement awaiting the release of Twilight as a movie on 12/12/08! Bella is being played by Kristen Stewart and Edward is Robert Pattinson (Cedric from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire!) See the trailer here: http://twilightthemovie.com/ and watch a scene from the movie here: http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?vid=237340

I like it that I can write a book review right on the TSR folder. Later, I'll put it on the blog.

It is cool that we can write what we think of books right here on the web! I like that other people can see what we think of a book! It might just encourage them to read that book.

Hey here's my book review:
Kissing Coffins is a great book, I mean like it was the best vampire book sequel next to the Twilight series. The most exciting part of this book to me was when Jagger had take Raven to the cemetery and tried to make Raven his. Yet in the end I knew that Alexander would save her since he loved her. But the preformance that Alexander and Raven did wold properly drive anybody crazy with no exceptions to humans.

So go and read the VAMPIRE KISSES series by Ellen Schreiber.

I LIKE THE FACT THAT SCHOOLS GET ENVOLVED WITH THE LIBRARY FOR THE SUMMER READING PROGRAM

I like that there is a summer reading program, because it makes reading fun and is better than reading just to write a report.

Some other really good series are the Alex Rider series, the Pendragon series, and the Charlie Bone series. They rock! You can't put the book down once you start!

Place where I can be lost
But part of reality
Place with all of the knowledge
And I can read
The library
Library
Made for you and me
Library
Library
Plenty of books to read
Librarians smile in your face and
Help you find a book
No matter how big or small
No matter how you look

Blood is Thicker, a book full of excitement for all ages. A Bluford High book that is very realistic, there is nothing that can draw your attention away because once you get started, you must keep going. This book is about Hakeem and his family moving to Detroit and his drama with his cousin.

Because of Winn Dixie is a book about a love between a girl & her dog. Indiana, or Opal, had just moved to a new place & was having trouble finding friends. Opal's father was the preacher of a small church. One day he wanted Opal to run to the Winn-Dixie store to pick up some food. When she got there, she met Winn-Dixie (the dog). Because of Winn-Dixie she had gotten a job, made friends with Miss Franny, Gloria Dump, Otis, Sweety Pie, Thomas, Amanda Wilkenson, & he filled an empty spot in Opal's heart.

chorus:
At the library anything can happen when you are opening up an adventure

You find what you want
and check it out. In a couple of days you know what it's about. This is the never-ending chain
of the library

Review:
Michael Chrichton wrote "Jurrassic Park" and its sequel. He also wrote "The Andromeda Strain," which I think is a movie now. He also has this other book, called "Next." It is all about genes, and basically he tells you everything you can do with them: alter them, patent them, use them against the person in which they reside. He starts off with about four or five extremely different plots, including a part-human chimp, stolen genes, and a "maturity gene" that causes whoever inhales it to age raplidly. Towards the end of the book, all the different plots come together to create an amazing story. You HAVE to read it. It is an amazing book. "Next," by Michael Chrichton.

This book is really good, if you like Star Wars ... Jedi Sunrise. I'm posting a review in that folder.

Unknown said...

Is there another folder to post reviews? If so, I can't find it, so here's my review:

The book was Jedi Sunrise. Princess Leia and Han-Solo had kids by this time, and the kids were Jedi. They became Master Jedi. Jacen and Jaina were having a battle against the Dark Jedi. Jaina was against one of their friends; he eventually became good and went on the Jedi side. There was a Jedi Wookiee, which was a nice twist.

It's awesome, everyone can see someones point of view on a book! So that way they can see what books they want to read!

The TSR program is very easy and the activities are reasonable.

Here's my review:

"The Host" follows the story of Wanderer, a coul that can't seem to find her place in the world. After being inserted int othe body of Melanie Stryder, she finds that the "host" is still there! From then on, Wanderer's adventure to find herself begins. This is a interesting story that I'd suggest to readers. Although ti feels slow in the beginning, onece it picks up, you find yourself drawn into Wanda's problems and inner conflict. Like Twilight, you'll find yourself drawn into the romanticism aspects of the book.

I like to write a book reveiw because you can say what the book is about. Others can look at what I wrote and decide if they want to read it or not.

I love the tsr!!! you should do it again next year!!!

that cool when you read good book and want to tell the world.

I read "Sea of Monsters". I think it is a funny adventure book, that is perfect for students 5th grade and up, with twists and turns in every chapter. If you are interested in Greek Mythology, you will love this book. It's a great sequel to "The Lightning Thief".

I really think it's cool that the library is doing something different for all the middle school students. I also think that reading can be fun if you find a variety of books that you enjoy.

We voted YES! to the Library vote.

Here is my book review:
Ransom
This book wasgreat. It was about 5 kids getting kidnapped. The substitute bus driver passes their house saying he's going to go pick up a friend. The kids find out he was going to a kidnapper, "his friend". They don't kill the kids, but call their parents and tell them to pay $10000 for each kid. Meanwhile, the kids just hope the parents gather the ransom

It's neat that we can share what we think about different books on the web.

My book review: 100 Cupboards
100 Cupboards is about a boy who finds 99 cupboards inside his wall in his bedroom. He figures out that they are portals to other worlds. His cousin finds out too and goes through one of them. The boy, Henry, must go after his cousin to save her before it is to late.
I really liked this book and I am glad I have spent the time to read it. You should read it too.
